NASA has become a key component to our national defense, and North Alabama must have a Congressman who will work diligently and across the aisle to secure funding for the agency. Parker Griffith believes that manned spaceflight needs to be developed and America’s desire to go to the moon should be revived. NASA needs to continue to be a significant source of jobs in North Alabama.
As a small businessman, Parker Griffith understands the only viable solution we have to address the tremendous budget deficit our country faces is to grow jobs. America needs to stop spending money it doesn’t have and start looking to the small business community to provide the means for growth. North Alabama’s small businesses should be incentivized to hire employees and grow the fifth district.
The federal government needs to create a comprehensive, national policy that is consistent for all 50 states. Parker Griffith believes that if an immigrant is illegal, he or she is illegal. Alabama’s Legislature has passed a law that is a step in the right direction, but Congress can and should provide an even better solution.
Children learn to read so they can read to learn. Parker Griffith has been a consistent advocate for early childhood education and created the Parker Griffith Family Foundation in 2005, which supports elementary school libraries across North Alabama. The foundation has awarded more than $50,000 in cash grants since its inception.
As a Congressman from 2008-2009, Parker Griffith voted against the Patient Protection and Affordable Healthcare Act (Obamacare). He believes this act should be repealed and replaced with a system that provides better benefits for small businesses and families.
North Alabama is a thriving area that is desperately behind in providing adequate infrastructure to match the growth rate. The stimulus money provided to this district should have been used for infrastructure and transportation needs. Parker Griffith will work to ensure North Alabama’s infrastructure needs are met.
As a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, Parker Griffith understands that we must keep the promises we make to our veterans and ensure Tri-Care is not tampered with. As a Medical Corps captain, Dr. Griffith took care of soldiers returning from Vietnam and witnessed firsthand the physical and mental effects of war on the men and women who fight to protect our freedom every day.
